The Central Government has said that around three thousand 148 crore rupees of loans have been disbursed under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in the first hundred days of the third term of the Modi government. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Jitan Ram Manjhi said that around two lakh 10 thousand employment opportunities were generated as more than 26 thousand Micro enterprises were established under PMEGP. Mr Manjhi also highlighted that the MSME sector is the backbone of the country’s economy. He said that the MSME sector has contributed more than 30 per cent to the nation’s GDP.
